The two rivers, Hayatsuki and Kamiichi, separate Namerikawa from Uozu City and Kamiichi Town respectively.
What kind of place is Namerikawa?
Once a rural town in the Hayatsuki Delta overlooking Toyama bay, then prospering as an inn town on the Old Hokuriku Roadway, in recent years Namerikawa has become home to large enterprise and continues to develop as an industrial city.
The coast of Namerikawa is the habitat of the word famous glowing firefly squid, which surface yearly in a phenomenon that has been designated a special natural monument. To promote firefly-squid-themed eco-tourism and education, the world's only firefly squid museum opened in March of 1998.
Additionally, since its opening in October 1998, woman-focused Thalassopia, the world's first spa facility for the advancement of health through the benefits of deep sea water, has been garnering attention and attracting a thriving clientele.
From the hilltop Toufukujino Nature Park, overflowing with dreams and romance, to Minowa tennis village's 19 courts and natural hot springs, youth and families find excitement. Meanwhile, the stirring tradition of setting alight nebuta floats in the ocean and the nimble rhythms of the Niikawaikodaijin dance, performed holding traditional lamps and torches, becomes an ode to the essence of summer.
