Nebuta Nagashi Ritual
This folk ritual is held at the Nakagawara coast (beach of Wada) in Namerikawa City on July 31. It is an event of ceremony "Misogi” (purification) by sinking and bathing yourself or flowing “Katashiro” (a small piece of paper shaped like human) in the sea water in order to exile impurity, an epidemic, and the sandman. This ritual was once held along the wide coast to Takatsuki Town. It has been designated as an important intangible folk cultural property by the national government.
